Volante Global, the MGA and Lloyd’s syndicate, has fortified its team in Singapore with the appointment of Liu Song to the position of Treaty Director.

In this capacity, Song will spearhead treaty business for the company’s operations in Southeast Asia, Greater China, and South Korea.

This strategic hire comes as part of the growth of Volante’s recently established Singapore Unit, which was established in June.

Song moves to Volante from China Re, a company he first joined in 2011 as an Associate Underwriter in Beijing. He earned a transfer to China Re’s Singapore branch in 2016 as a manager for treaty underwriting in APAC, before being promoted to Deputy COO and Senior Underwriting Manager in 2021.

Amy Fu, Managing Director for Volante Asia, announced the move in an official statement, commenting, “I am delighted to welcome Liu Song as our new Portfolio Director. Song has come on board to further enhance our offering of treaty business for Volante in Southeast Asia, Greater China, and South Korea.”

Song’s appointment will bring valuable expertise to Volante’s operations as it continues to expand its presence in the APAC (re)insurance market.
