Markel announced on Monday that Jack Taylor has joined the business in the newly created role of Executive, Distribution Strategies and Business Development for Asia Pacific.

Singapore-based Taylor joins after nearly 15 years with Zurich where he worked in London and Singapore across a variety of roles, including broker relations, business development, and as a senior underwriter.

In his new role, Taylor will focus on broker engagement and developing underwriting solutions for the region, collaborating with Markel’s territory leaders, underwriters, and international distribution strategies and business development teams.

“[Taylor] has an impressive profile in the Singapore market and I’ve no doubt he’ll strengthen Markel’s links and engagement with our broker partners, both in Singapore and across the wider Asia Pacific region.”

“It’s a delight to welcome Jack to Markel,” said Christian Stobbs, Markel International’s Managing Director for APAC. “He has an impressive profile in the Singapore market and I’ve no doubt he’ll strengthen Markel’s links and engagement with our broker partners, both in Singapore and across the wider Asia Pacific region.”

Dan Martin, Managing Director of Distribution Strategy and Business Development, added that Markel has made “great strides” in its specialty value proposition and that “Jack’s extensive experience across the specialty insurance market and broker engagement will be a huge asset as we continue our growth trajectory in the region.”
