Marsh has appointed Samir Sofat as Healthcare Practice Leader, Pacific, the company announced in a statement on LinkedIn.
Sydney-based Sofat joins Marsh after three years at Aon, where he served as Healthcare Specialist since May 2021.
“With extensive experience in the healthcare sector as both a broker and underwriter, Samir brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team,” Marsh said in its statement.
“With his extensive technical insurance background, leadership skills, and expertise across underwriting, portfolio management, claims management, and regulatory/compliance risk, he is the perfect fit to lead our diverse team,” the company added.
Prior to his time at Aon, Sofat was at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance for five years, including as Healthcare Manager and at Avant Mutual Group Limited as Portfolio Manager and Corporate Underwriter.
Sofat shared his thoughts on joining Marsh, commenting, “With healthcare organisations evolving to provide more effective and efficient patient-centric models of care, so too are the risk environments in which they operate.
