Specialist (re)insurance broker Miller on Monday announced the appointment of Kazuhiko Shinkai as Head of Non-Marine Japan Strategy, effective as of 1 July 2024.

Shinkai has over 35 years of experience and joins from Itochu Corporation, where he held various management roles.

In a media release, Miller said Shinkai will oversee the operational management of Miller’s Japanese business and lead further expansions of its non-marine lines.

Ron Whyte, Head of Asia at Miller, said, “With over 35 years in the Japanese insurance market, we are delighted to have Shinkai-san join us. He is well respected in the industry and brings deep knowledge and experience that will be highly relevant as we seek to broaden our footprint and strengthen our capabilities in Japan.”

Japan continues to be a key growth country for Miller. The broker acquired Lead in 2022 following a 25-year relationship between the businesses. Earlier this month, the business appointed Tokinori Kono as Head of Non-Marine Broking in Japan.

“We remain excited by the opportunities and potential we see for Miller in both Japan and Asia,” said Whyte.
