Starr Insurance has opened a new branch in South Korea, with Paul Choi appointed as CEO, effective 1 May 2024, the company announced in a statement on LinkedIn.

The opening of the branch follows last year’s speculation that Starr was looking to expand to the country. Industry sources had told local media the business filed for approval, with a view to opening its branch in 2024.

Starr’s announcement confirms the strategic move and Choi will bring his 30 years of industry experience to provide strategic leadership and oversee profitable growth for the new branch, the insurer said.

Choi has been working with Starr as a Consultant since September 2023. Prior he was at Aon Korea, serving as Chief Broking Officer.
