Specialty (re)insurer Canopius on Wednesday announced that Paul Hackett has been appointed Regional Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific (APAC), effective 1 March 2025.

Alongside his new role, Hackett maintains his current position as Head of Marine for APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA). He will also join the APAC Executive Committee as part of the transition.

Hackett will report to Canopius APAC and MENA CEO Soon Keen (SK) Lee and Canopius Group Chief Underwriting Officer Sam Harrison and will be responsible for developing and executing the APAC distribution strategy and strengthening broker engagement in the region.

“Paul has been a driving force in our regional success, and his expanded role is a testament to his leadership and deep understanding of the specialty insurance market,” SK Lee said.

Hackett has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on marine and specialty lines, including time spent at Aspen Syndicate and Catlin.
