QBE Insurance has announced the appointment of Nicola Schroder as its new Group Head of Sustainability, effective immediately.
Schroder has been with QBE for over 5 years, serving most recently as Head of Environment & Transition. Prior, she spent 11 years at National Australia Bank, in roles such as Head of Corporate Responsibility Engagement and Head of Environmental Sustainability.
In her new role, Schroder will oversee sustainability governance, strategy implementation, initiatives focused on human rights, modern slavery, and social impact through the QBE Foundation, while advancing the company’s commitment to sustainability, the insurer said in a statement.
Viv Bower, Group Executive, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at QBE, commented, “Nicola has been instrumental in driving our sustainability initiatives over the last 5 years. Her deep expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to integrate sustainability across the enterprise.”

Schroder brings to her position two decades of experience across engineering, property, banking, and insurance sectors. During her tenure at QBE, she has notably contributed to the company’s sustainability goals, including the development of a net-zero operations roadmap in her most recent role as Head of Environment and Transition, QBE said.
Additionally, Schroder chairs the Insurance Council of Australia’s Net Zero Working Group and is a member of the UNEPFI Principles for Sustainable Insurance board, QBE’s AUSPAC Foundation Committee, and the ICA’s Climate and Resilience Committee.
