(Re)in Summary
• Sedgwick has launched an AI-generated claims summary feature in its viaOne portal, designed to provide examiners with a consolidated view of claims data.
• The tool offers automated insights, reserve suggestions, and predictive modeling to support claims management.
• The development follows Sedgwick’s 2023 launch of Sidekick+, which integrates ChatGPT technology into its claims processes.
Loss adjuster Sedgwick announced it has launched a claims summary feature within its viaOne digital portal, designed to provide insurance practitioners with an overview of claims data from the past 12 months.
The tool, which uses proprietary AI technology, aims to streamline claims processing by offering examiners a consolidated summary alongside predictive modelling and reserve recommendations.
According to Sedgwick, the feature provides automated insights to assist in claims handling, including suggested next steps, interactive settlement tools, and compliance tracking. The company states that this functionality could help examiners review and manage claims more efficiently.
Leah Cooper, Global Chief Digital Officer at Sedgwick, said, “The creation of this claims summary feature is a testament to Sedgwick’s commitment to simplifying claims and transforming the industry. By integrating data science, GenAI, and Sedgwick’s deep industry knowledge, we continue to develop solutions that elevate our client’s experience and raise the bar for the claims industry as a whole.”
Sedgwick’s latest development aligns with a broader trend of AI adoption in the insurance sector. In October 2024, Prudential launched a pilot programme to test generative AI for medical claims processing in Singapore and Malaysia, aiming to minimise manual data entry errors and expedite approvals. Meanwhile, in December 2024, Suncorp entered a five-year partnership with Microsoft to enhance its AI capabilities, focusing on automation and streamlining claims management processes.
