Price Forbes Asia has appointed Thomas Russell into the newly created role of Director, Head of Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) Wholesale, the specialty broker announced today (25 Sep).

Singapore-based Russell joins Price Forbes from Green Bird Reinsurance, where he was the Head of Wholesale and Reinsurance.

He brings 12 years of industry experience to the new role, where he will report to Asia Pacific CEO Phil Johnson and help to bring Asia capacity to the ANZ markets.

Speaking on the importance of the new appointment, Johnson said, “Adding strong ANZ placement capabilities to service clients ‘in time zone’ and provide access to the Singaporean market for those clients was an obvious priority for us. Tom’s appointment is a vital part of delivering on this ambition and we look forward to building out the team to make the most of the fantastic opportunities in the region.”

Russel started his career working in Australia for Marsh in 2012 and, after over five years with the business, joined Honan Insurance Group’s Sydney office in 2017 before moving to the company’s Singapore office in 2022.

Speaking on his new role, Russell said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Price Forbes Asia. With its strong market presence and agility, I believe the firm is well positioned to capitalise on the expanding opportunities within the APAC region.”

“I’m eager to lead and grow the new ANZ wholesale team as we embark on this exciting journey together,” Russell added.
