Tower ceo blair turnbull to step down in february 2025

New Zealand insurer Tower has announced the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Blair Turnbull, effective 12 February 2025, following the Annual Shareholder Meeting (ASM) on 11 February 2025.

Turnbull has led the Kiwi and Pacific Island insurer since 2020, overseeing key transformations and milestones during his tenure.

Chairman Michael Stiassny acknowledged Turnbull’s contributions, stating that he has played a vital role in positioning Tower as a leading direct insurer in New Zealand and the Pacific. “Blair’s energy and focus has been on building a better, sustainable Tower powered by digital technology and data,” Stiassny said.

Turnbull also expressed pride in leading the company, saying: “It’s been a truly exciting chapter for me and a rewarding time leading such a great team of people. Together, we have significantly transformed Tower’s customer experience by leveraging digitisation and realised marked operational efficiencies through our cloud-based platform.”

“I believe the platform is solid and as such it’s an ideal juncture to pass the baton. My current focus is on sustaining our positive business momentum and ensuring a smooth transition,” he added.

After stepping down, Turnbull says he plans to compete in an ultra-running race around Mt Kilimanjaro and spend time with family before deciding on his next career move.

Tower’s Board said it has begun the recruitment process for his successor and will provide updates accordingly. Further details about the ASM will be released later this month, along with the company’s financial results announcement on 28 November.
