WFI Insurance has announced a donation of A$250,000 to Rural Aid to support relief efforts for farmers affected by flooding in Western Queensland.

The region has experienced significant flooding, impacting areas including Thargomindah, Adavale, and Jundah. The flood warnings cover an area estimated to be twice the size of Victoria.

Jarrod Hill, CEO of CGU & WFI Insurance, stated, “The scale of this disaster is devastating for so many farming communities, and the impact on people is heartbreaking.” He emphasised the company’s focus on working with Rural Aid to support on-the-ground efforts, such as delivering feed to stranded livestock.

Hill expressed hope that WFI’s contribution would inspire other businesses connected to rural Australia to provide support. “Farmers are the heartbeat of our nation, and are essential to our country’s future success,” he added.

Rural Aid, which aims to safeguard farming and rural communities before, during, and after natural disasters, will use the funds to provide immediate aid. John Warlters, CEO of Rural Aid, said, “Through the generous support of WFI Insurance, we will be able to provide additional and immediate aid to impacted farmers.”

WFI Insurance is part of IAG, which includes NRMA Insurance and CGU Insurance. Customers can lodge claims online or by phone through the respective insurance brands.
