The Ardonagh Group on Wednesday announced the appointment of Jason Anthony to lead its MGA proposition in Asia, subject to regulatory approval.
Anthony brings 38 years of industry experience in the Lloyd’s and London insurance market, with deep expertise across underwriting, business development, and MGA launch strategies.
He has previously worked at businesses including Acrisure and OIM Underwriting, and also founded his own business, MGAM Limited. More recently, he has served as an independent consultant to the industry.
In his new role, he will lead Ardonagh’s push to build a pan‑Asian MGA at scale, expanding the company’s existing MGA operations and broadening both product line focus and geographic reach across Asia. He will report to Andrew Minnitt, the newly appointed Asia CEO.
Commenting on the appointment, Philip Johnson, investor director for Asia, said the hire of Anthony brings a “rare combination of entrepreneurial MGA experience and London Market credibility” to the business. “Jason’s appointment is a significant step forward in strengthening Ardonagh’s leadership and long‑term commitment to Asia.”
The appointment follows a series of steps by the Ardonagh Group to expand in the region. These include Minnitt’s appointment as CEO of Asia, announced last month, and the creation of a new treaty team for group company Price Forbes in March. The group has also acquired Hong Kong brokers RMIB and Apex Insurance over the past 12 months.
The moves also follow Ardonagh’s big-ticket acquisition of Australia’s PSC in 2024, underlining its desire to expand its presence in the region. “With strong capital backing, the business is well positioned to partner with experienced underwriters who share our ambition to create a differentiated regional proposition,” Ardonagh said.
