Niyam Group has appointed Lovenish Kumar as director of operations to oversee management for Syndicate 2047 in GIFT City, the company said on Thursday.

Kumar has more than 10 years of experience in the reinsurance sector, having previously held managerial roles at AXA XL and XL Catlin.

The hiring comes as Niyam Group has been building out its management structure in India since launching in January. The company received Lloyd’s approval for Syndicate 2047 earlier this year and began underwriting operations in April.

Recent additions to the leadership team include Prathemesh Apte as director of risk and compliance, and Ritesh Shah as director of engineering and construction.

In June, Niyam Group adjusted its board following an agreement by private equity firm J.C. Flowers & Co. to acquire a controlling stake and serve as lead investor for Syndicate 2047. In conjunction with the deal, J.C. Flowers executives Thierry Porte and Jonathan Cox joined the board.
