QBE has appointed Barry Robinson to the newly created role of head of portfolio solutions, Asia, and Melissa Anthony as country lead, liability, corporate, Singapore, both effective 1 Sep 2026.
Robinson will lead QBE’s portfolio solutions strategy across the region. He has been with the insurer for nearly 10 years, spending the past four as head of corporate underwriting and broker distribution for its Singapore business. He has more than 20 years of experience in insurance, including spells at Chubb, Euler Hermes, and Amlin.
Anthony transfers to Singapore after more than eight years at QBE Australia in liability underwriting and portfolio management, most recently as national manager, major accounts – liability, based in Sydney. She previously worked at IAG, Wesfarmers Insurance and Allianz Australia before joining.
“These appointments reflect QBE’s continued investment in internal talent and specialist capabilities to support sustainable growth across Asia,” the insurer said in a LinkedIn post.
The appointments add to a run of senior changes at QBE Asia this year. The insurer named Siang Leng Tay, interim chief executive of its wholesale markets business, after Ronak Shah left to take over as MSIG Asia’s regional chief executive on 1 Oct 2026, and reshaped its marine bench, promoting Angus Cheung to lead hull and liability in North Asia.
The wider group held its combined operating ratio at 92.8% in the first half of 2026 as lower catastrophe losses offset claims inflation.
