AXA XL has appointed Augustin Gas as head of Asia reinsurance, effective 1 Sep 2026, the company announced on Saturday (5 September).
Gas returns to Singapore from Zurich, where he spent the past two years as a senior underwriter at Arch Re covering the Asian portfolio, with a focus on India, China and Southeast Asia, along with retrocession.
He had worked in Singapore until 2024, after 19 years at SCOR as chief underwriting officer for property and casualty in Asia-Pacific, a post he held from 2022.
AXA XL’s reinsurance role has been open since Dan Bryan, AXA XL Re’s head of reinsurance for Asia, left for Chaucer to run its Asia-Pacific reinsurance business in the second quarter of this year.
Earlier this year the (re)insurer named Thomas Saive head of motor underwriting for APAC and Europe and Naleena Moore underwriting manager for marine cargo in Singapore.
In May the business launched a dedicated prevention unit under global chief underwriting officer Libby Benet, making it a fifth core division alongside reinsurance.
