Generali Central Life Insurance appointed Saddam Hossain as chief risk officer (CRO), the Mumbai-headquartered company announced on Monday.
Prior to joining the business, Hossain spent over 16 years at Edelweiss Life Insurance, most recently serving as chief risk officer. He also worked at SBI Life Insurance earlier in his career.
“With over 18 years of experience in the life insurance sector, he brings strong expertise in risk management, actuarial science, financial risk and capital management”, the company noted in its LinkedIn announcement.
Hossain’s appointment comes as Generali Central Life pursues expansion, with CEO Alok Rungta targeting 30–35% growth in new business and expecting its Central Bank of India partnership to generate at least INR5bn (about US$60m) in annual business within three years.
Hossain is the latest addition to the life insurer’s leadership team, following the appointment of Shobit Gupta as chief investment officer earlier this year.
Generali Central Insurance, the group’s property and casualty counterpart in India, has also appointed Prem Sivadas as chief commercial officer and Sandeep Pannalalji Rathi as senior vice president and head of underwriting.
