Helvetia Baloise has appointed Siew Choo Tan as chief executive officer (CEO) for its Asia business, effective 1 January 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

Based in Singapore, she will succeed Ivan Chan, who will transition to the role of senior advisor after serving as CEO Asia for nine years, the Switzerland-headquartered multi-line insurer announced on Tuesday.Asi

Tan has been with Helvetia Baloise since 2019 and most recently held the role of head of engineering and property solutions for Asia (power, industrial property and construction). She previously held roles at AXA XL, Catlin, Manufacturers Mutual Insurance and Generali.

“With her extensive industry experience, deep knowledge of our business and strong track record in business development, Siew Choo is well positioned to lead our Asia business into its next chapter,” the company said on LinkedIn.

The appointment comes after Helvetia Baloise Group’s merger of its Swiss life and non-life insurance companies earlier this year. On 1 July, Helvetia Baloise Group completed the merger after receiving approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA.

In the first half of 2026, Helvetia Baloise reported non-life business volume of CHF7.1bn (US$8.61bn), while life insurance volume reached CHF4.6bn.
