Liberty Mutual Insurance on Monday announced new Asia Pacific executive appointments for its Global Risk Solutions team, the company’s global commercial and specialty (re)insurance division.
David Tam has been appointed as Asia Pacific Chief Information Officer, Robert Mercer as Asia Pacific Head of Claims, Tibor Nagy as Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer, and Vidhi Kapoor as Asia Pacific Regional Head of HR.
The appointments come after LII unified its retail and commercial/specialty business operations in APAC back in April, headed by Matthew Jackson, President of Liberty International Insurance.
“These leadership appointments are helping ensure we continue to deliver excellent service, and have the right people, capabilities, and operating model to deliver on cedant, broker, agent and client needs,” Jackson said in the announcement.
“We’re pleased to see some of our existing leaders take on expanded remits, and also welcome Vidhi and Tibor who strengthen our executive team with their deep expertise and experience working in large global businesses across the Asia Pacific region,” he added.
Tam has been with Liberty Mutual Insurance since 2006 and has served in leadership roles for the firm’s Singapore and Vietnam offices. The new role adds CIO responsibilities for commercial IT to his existing ones in the company’s retail division.
Sydney-based Mercer first joined Liberty Special Markets in 2020 and has been serving as Head of Claims since 2021. This new leadership appointment adds more responsibility under Mercer’s belt, specifically for retail claims on top of his current portfolio of commercial and specialty claims.
Nagy joins LII after a 28-year stint with AIG, where he most recently served as CFO for the ANZ Region. He has gained experience from holding senior finance and leadership roles across Australia, India, Europe, and the United States. Based in Singapore, Nagi will start at the company on 6 January 2025.
Kapoor has been tapped to join LII after 16 years with Citibank, where she served as Singapore Country HR Head. She brings extensive HR experience to her new role, having worked in senior HR leadership roles across the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe. She is set to officially join the global insurer on 6 January 2025.
