Swiss Re has announced the appointment of Bernhard Kaufmann as Group Chief Risk Officer, effective 1 October 2025.
He will succeed Patrick Raaflaub, who is retiring from the role.
Kaufmann will join Swiss Re from Helvetia, where he currently holds the position of Group Chief Risk Officer. He will bring 17 years of experience as a chief risk officer within the (re)insurance industry. His prior roles include serving as CRO at NN Group and in senior leadership positions at Munich Re, where he was most recently Group Chief Risk Officer.
Chairman Jacques de Vaucleroy commented: “We are delighted to have found a seasoned leader in Bernhard Kaufmann. With his deep expertise in risk management in the (re)insurance industry, he is well equipped to navigate Swiss Re through the increasingly complex risk and regulatory landscape.”
De Vaucleroy also thanked Patrick Raaflaub on behalf of the Board of Directors for his contributions to the company over the years and extended best wishes for his future.
