Canopius on Monday announced that it has hired Chen Zhang as Head of Claims, Asia Pacific (APAC), and Channing Chiu as Regional Strategy and Transformation Lead, with both appointments effective as of May.
Both report to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, the specialty (re)insurer’s Chief Executive Officer for the APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA) regions.
Zhang joins Canopius from FM, where he served as Branch Manager in Hong Kong. In that role, he led business operations in Hong Kong and managed commercial property claims across APAC.
He brings with him more than 15 years of industry experience in claims adjusting, engineering risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
Chiu, meanwhile, joins from AIG, also bringing 15 years of industry experience. She has led cross-functional teams in pricing, claims, marketing, distribution, product development, and operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and China.
At AIG, she led the small and medium enterprises segment and served as Underwriting and Portfolio Manager for four markets in Southeast Asia and Greater China.
