Howden has appointed Edmund Arghand as the company’s new Head of Credit, Political Risk & Surety (CPS) for Asia, the company announced on LinkedIn on Monday, 7 July.

Before this appointment, Arghand was the Director for BMS Group in London. He also held roles such as Senior Underwriter for Political & Credit Risk at HDI Global, as well as other senior posts at Zurich Insurance Company in Singapore.

At Howden, Arghand will lead the CPS team in Singapore to drive the growth of the company’s credit portfolio in the region, with a particular focus on structured credit. He brings more than 13 years of experience in credit and sovereign risk underwriting as well as business growth from his prior roles in both London and Singapore, Howden said.

Matthew Strong, Global Head of Credit and Deputy CEO of Howden Capital Advisory and Placement (CAP), added that Arghand’s appointment “is another step forward in continuing to offer our clients market-leading expertise in capital solutions globally, especially in today’s increasingly complex risk environment.”

Howden Re has continued its strategic expansion in Asia with the launch of a reinsurance broking platform focused on Hong Kong and appointing Roy Wong as Managing Director, Reinsurance, Hong Kong, effective 21 July 2025. Brian Chan and Karen Liu will also join Howden Re Hong Kong as senior brokers.
