Arch Insurance Australia has promoted Nick Barry to Accident & Health (A&H) Underwriting Manager for the Southern Region, effective immediately.

Barry, who joined Arch in January 2024 as a Senior A&H Underwriter, brings nearly a decade of underwriting experience to his new role. He previously held underwriting positions at ATC Insurance Solutions, Chubb and Zurich before joining Arch.

Based in Melbourne, Barry will be responsible for managing Arch’s A&H portfolio and underwriting team across the Southern Region, which covers Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. He reports to Jarrod O’Connor, A&H Underwriting Manager.

“Nick’s promotion is thoroughly deserved and a testament to his outstanding commitment to our A&H brokers and clients,” said O’Connor. “He will be integral to driving our growth as we continue to strengthen our relevance in the market.”

The appointment comes as Arch Insurance Australia continues to expand its presence in the Australian market, having recently increased its property insurance capacity to A$50m per-situation limit in March 2025. In June, the firm also promoted Ed Short to Head of Digital.
