Pacific Life Re has announced two senior appointments in its Asia protection division, with Wallace Ong moving to a newly created regional role and Spenser Chen taking over Southeast Asia leadership.
Ong, who has led the Southeast Asia and China protection teams for 18 months, has been appointed head of Business Proposition and Enablement, Protection, Asia. Having served at Pacific Life Re for nearly 12 years, Ong will focus on strengthening the company’s value proposition and market readiness across the region.
Chen has been named head of SEA, Protection, Asia, succeeding Ong in the Southeast Asia role. He brings over 15 years of experience across consulting, insurance and reinsurance markets in Southeast Asia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. In his new position, he will lead cross-functional teams to develop client partnerships and deliver market-specific solutions in the region.
The moves follow other recent leadership changes at the reinsurer, including Kenichi Kim’s promotion to Head of South Korea in May. In the same month, the company also announced its second asset-intensive reinsurance deal with Japan’s Anshin Life.
