Aon has appointed Stephen as chief executive officer for Indonesia, effective 3 August, subject to final regulatory approval, the global broker announced on Tuesday.

He joins Aon from Zurich Indonesia, where he most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer and oversaw both traditional and takaful portfolios across property and casualty, health, benefits and travel.

In his new remit, Stephen will lead the firm’s Indonesian operations across commercial risk, health, talent and wealth, reporting to Jane Drummond, Chief Commercial Officer for Asia Pacific and interim head of Southeast Asia, and join Aon’s Southeast Asia leadership team.

“Stephen brings deep market insight, strong leadership capability and a clear focus on clients,” Drummond said. “He has a proven track record of developing teams, strengthening capabilities and delivering results.”

Stephen’s appointment follows a run of leadership changes across Aon’s Asia Pacific operations. The broker promoted Edwin Lee and Jamine Figueroa to commercial leadership roles in Southeast Asia in July, and named Sean Deehan chief executive officer of its strategy and technology group for Asia Pacific.

The broker has also expanded its product line-up this year, launching an AI risk diagnostic for enterprise clients and raising the capacity of its data centre lifecycle insurance programme to US$5bn.
