Prudential plc has appointed Naveed Irshad as regional CEO for Indonesia, the Philippines and Africa, effective 26 October, the business announced on Thursday.
In his new role, Irshad will report to Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani and join the insurer’s Group Executive Committee. He will also take on enterprise-wide responsibility for Prudential’s health and product businesses.
Welcoming Irshad to Prudential, Wadhwani said: “His experience in leading large-scale insurance and wealth businesses, developing customer solutions and building strong distribution partnerships will support our continued growth and help us deliver for customers across our markets.”
Relocating to Hong Kong for the role, Irshad joins from Manulife, where he previously worked as president and CEO in Canada. He previously served as president and CEO of the Canadian insurer’s Singapore operations.
He brings more than three decades of experience in the insurance and financial services industries across Asia and North America. Before Manulife, Irshad held senior roles at Reinsurance Group of America and financial services company John Hancock.
His appointment follows other recent leadership changes made by the insurer this year, including naming Manu Tandon chief health and protection officer for Singapore and Yuting Lim CEO of Prudential Financial Advisers, also in Singapore.
The firm also recently expanded its asset management operations, Eastspring Investments, adding former Singapore CEO Chan San San as chief partnership officer and Ghislain Périssé as head of insurance solutions.
