AXA XL announced that Shirley Kwok has been promoted to the Head of Marine Cargo, North Asia in a LinkedIn post.
In her new position, Kwok will be responsible for overseeing staff and expanding clients in key markets including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea. She brings over 20 years of experience and expertise as a marine cargo underwriter to her new role.
Kwok has a strong background in financing, negotiating, and servicing international maritime cargo programs and her expertise includes underwriting direct and facultative reinsurance policies across North Asia. She has handled diverse cargo types, ranging from project cargo to delay start-up, industrial machinery, and high-tech goods.
Her contributions to the industry were recognised during her tenure as Vice Chair of the Marine Insurance Club of Hong Kong from 2019 to 2023.
Kwok joined AXA in 2017 as a Senior Marine Underwriter, following successful stints at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, where she served as Assistant Vice President of Marine in Asia, and at XL Insurance Co Ltd Hong Kong Branch, where she held the positions of Marine Underwriter and Assistant Manager.
Gary Tin promoted
AXA XL simultaneously announced that Gary Tin has been promoted to Senior Underwriter. Tin has expertise in Global Programs and Captive solutions and in his new position will play a pivotal role in cultivating strong connections with new and existing clients in the region.
