Everest Insurance this week announced the promotion of Harry Townsend to Chief Ceded Reinsurance Officer.

In his new role, London-based Townsend will lead the global division’s Ceded Re strategy and report to Mark Maritzen, Everest’s Global Chief Underwriting Officer.

“Harry has established a standard of operational excellence across our International Ceded Re business, bringing an even greater level of engagement with reinsurers,” Maritzen said.

“Everest is focused on deepening our commitment to our global reinsurance partners, and Harry brings both a strong network of relationships and business acumen that will help us expand those partnerships,” he added.

Townsend joined Everest in January 2024 as Head of Ceded Reinsurance, International. Before joining Everest, he worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance for over nine years, most recently serving as Global Reinsurance Casualty Division Manager.
