Guy Carpenter has announced the appointment of Richard Chu as Managing Director, Credit, Bond & Political Risk, Global Specialties, with immediate effect.
Chu will operate from Singapore and report to David Edwards, Head of the division. His main responsibilities include supporting client relationships and driving new business development throughout Asia Pacific, the global reinsurance broker said.
Chu brings 30 years of reinsurance experience to his new role. Before this appointment, he served as Head of Financial Risks for APAC at Partner Re, a position he held since 2015. Chu’s career also includes senior roles in financial, credit, and specialty at firms including Swiss Re and Asia Capital Reinsurance Group.
Edwards commented on Chu’s appointment, “Richard brings a wealth of experience and a track record of providing exceptional value to his clients across the region.” He also noted the growing importance of credit, bond, and political risk insurance in APAC trade, stressing the need for skilled reinsurers and brokers to deliver the capacity the market requires.
