Holger Schaefer to take on Global Head of Casualty & EIL role at SCOR Business Solutions

His past experience includes 35 years at Allianz Group, including as Regional CEO APAC for Allianz Trade.

Holger Schaefer has been appointed Global head of Casualty & EIL at SCOR Business Solutions, effective 1 March 2025, the business announced in a media release.

Prior to joining SCOR, Schaefer served as the CEO of Howden Deutschland for over two years. His extensive industry experience also includes working for Allianz Group, where he spent 35 years. He most recently served there as Regional CEO APAC for Allianz Trade, based in Hong Kong, and also spent time as Pacific CEO for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, based in Sydney.

In his new role, Schaefer will report to Claire McDonald, SCOR Business Solutions’ CEO. Based in Cologne, he will be responsible for leading the company’s teams in the US, Europe, and APAC regions.

Commenting on Schaefer’s appointment, McDonald stated: “Holger’s extensive experience in leading underwriting businesses and driving profitable growth will be invaluable as we continue to expand our global presence. His proven track record, combined with his innovative approach, makes him the perfect fit for our team. We are excited about the fresh perspectives and leadership Holger will bring to our organisation.”
