Howden New Zealand has appointed Mark Stankovich as a partner in its Auckland commercial and affinity team, the broker said in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.

Stankovich is the broker’s latest hire from Aon, where he worked for over 7 years, most recently as executive director.

He brings more than 30 years of experience in New Zealand’s intermediated market, spanning underwriting, broking, and senior leadership roles across the commercial and corporate insurance sectors, and having previously held senior positions at Vero, Suncorp, and Construction Cost Consultants.

His appointment continues the broker’s talent recruitment from rival Aon, following Howden’s expansion of its M&A insurance team in Asia, with hires across Singapore, Greater China and Japan as it scales up its regional transactional risk capability.

It also follows more recent leadership appointments in Howden’s businesses across the region. Earlier this month, it named Andy Buddell as Asia COO, Mani Tsang as head of claims for Hong Kong, and Henry To as chairman for Howden Re.
