US-based Insurtech Agam Capital has hired former Japanese finance minister Kazuhiro Nakatsuka as a strategic advisor to lead its expansion plans in the island country.
Nakatsuka, who brings decades of regulatory and financial expertise, will support Agam’s strategic direction and long-term expansion across Japan’s life insurance, pension, and broader financial markets.
Nakatsuka was Japan’s minister for financial services in the Noda Cabinet, where he oversaw financial regulation and crisis response efforts. Before that, he served as senior vice minister for reconstruction and was a member of the House of Representatives.
He is presently an advisor to TWOSTONE&Sons Inc. and Earth Infinity Co., Ltd.
Nakatsuka previously served as the president and CEO of the Dojima Exchange and as a former director and senior managing executive officer at SBI Holdings.
In his role as Strategic Advisor, Nakatsuka will provide insights into Japan’s insurance sector regulatory landscape and market environment and foster partnerships with local institutional insurers.
The appointment follows Agam Capital’s recent partnership with 1823 Partners targeting Japan’s life and retirement sectors.
Founded in 2016, Agam operates a proprietary asset liability management platform with offices across the US, Canada, Bermuda, India and Japan.
