Howden has appointed Joaquin Carlos Uy as Vice President, Financial Lines Leader, Philippines, within its Corporate Risk Specialty division, the broker announced on LinkedIn on Tuesday.

Uy brings two decades of broking experience across multiple specialties and joins Howden from Willis, where he spent more than nine years, most recently as Deputy Head, Corporate Risk & Broking for the Philippines.

The appointment marks a return to Howden for Uy, who previously spent nearly 10 years with the broker between 2007 and 2017 in progressively senior roles.

In his new role, Uy will lead the financial lines practice in the Philippines and will drive the development of bespoke and specialised solutions across cyber, management liability, and professional liability risks.

“Bringing two decades of broking experience across multiple specialties, Joaquin offers deep market expertise and a strong understanding of the evolving risk landscape,” Howden said.

Uy’s appointment comes after a series of moves by Howden in Asia this year, including an expansion earlier this month of its Hong Kong team with four senior appointments across employee benefits, multinational clients, and financial lines capabilities in the region. Late last month, the business also added three managing directors to build out its China and APAC business.
