MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd has pledged RM100,800 (approx. US$25.4k) to the MyKasih Foundation to support the ‘Love My School’ (LMS) Cashless Bursary Programme and additional student development activities carried out with other schools during the 2026 academic year.

The bursary will support 89 underprivileged students from SK Bukit Tadom in Banting, which serves a diverse community, with funds covering meals, books, stationery and other learning essentials, as well as related student development activities.

Under the programme, eligible students from households earning less than RM1,500 per month receive monthly allowances credited into accounts linked to their MyKad and MyKasih student smart cards.

The smart cards can be used to purchase meals and beverages from school canteens, as well as books, stationery and other approved school-related items. Support may also extend to uniforms, shoes, school bags and additional back-to-school necessities.

MSIG said the contribution would also support activity-based programmes aimed at enhancing students’ learning experiences and easing financial pressures that may affect school attendance and academic progress.

Chief executive officer of MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd, Ang Yien Chia, said the initiative reflects the insurer’s focus on supporting long-term educational outcomes through structured financial assistance programmes. “Education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty,” she added.

The ‘Love My School’ Cashless Bursary Programme was introduced in 2012 to provide transparent and structured support for educational necessities through a cashless system.

Beyond bursaries, the foundation also supports participating schools through classroom enhancement projects, computer labs, robotics equipment, sports development initiatives, music, English proficiency, and financial literacy programmes.
