Munich Re Specialty has promoted Guy Smith to Group Head of Cargo effective from September, the global reinsurer announced in a company statement on LinkedIn.

London-based Smith has over 30 years of experience in the marine and specialty markets and has been with Munich Re Specialty since 2016. He will be elevated from his current role as Head of Marine & Specialty, a position he has held since January 2022.

“With over 30 years’ experience in Marine and Specialty markets, Guy has played a leading role in delivering an award-winning service for Munich Re Specialty clients in the UK market,” the reinsurer said in its announcement.

“His expert knowledge coupled with his outstanding market reputation will enable further growth for our global portfolio,” Munich Re added.

Before joining Munich Re Specialty, Smith worked for eight years at Zurich Insurance. His past experience also includes six years at Aon Risk Solutions and ten years at Aviva.
