Paul Belford is set to retire at the end of November, Pen Underwriting Australia announced in a LinkedIn Statement celebrating his 13-years with the business.
The managing general agent (MGA) said that Belford had been key to driving success in its liability classes, adding that his industry knowledge had “been an invaluable asset” to team members and partners and that throughout his tenure, Paul had mentored, shared knowledge and helped shape the next generation of underwriters.
The business added that his insights had driven the MGA’s success and will continue to influence its culture long after his departure.
“As Paul embarks on this new chapter of his life, we wish him all the joy & happiness possible,” Pen said in its statement. “Thank you Paul (Belf!), for your incredible contributions and for being an integral part of the Pen Underwriting family. You will be greatly missed.”
Belford is a career insurance practitioner, and prior to his time at Pen, he built his experience in a wide range of roles and businesses, including as General Manager for Celestial Underwriting Agency, as a self-employed insurance consultant, and time in various liability and casualty roles at Chubb, Allianz, Zurich, and CIC Insurance.
