Austcover has appointed Peter Apolakiatis as general manager, the company announced on Monday.

He succeeds Alan Moran, who has been promoted to chief broking officer at the Australian broker’s parent company, QIB Group Holdings.

Apolakiatis joins after over a year with BMS Group, where he most recently served as chief growth officer. Before that, he served as managing director at Bluebook Insurance Brokers, a business he founded in 2018. He also founded Stand Underwriting in 2021.

He brings over 25 years of industry experience, spanning roles within privately owned and ASX-listed businesses, focused on insurance and risk requirements. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles with Bellrock Broking and GSA Insurance Brokers.

“Peter brings significant industry experience, strong leadership capabilities and a proven record of building successful businesses and client relationships,” QIB Group CEO Adrian Humphreys said.

“His understanding of the insurance market, combined with his strategic mindset and commitment to people and clients, makes him an excellent fit for Austcover as the business enters its next stage of growth,” he added.
