Indian insurer ProTec General Insurance Limited has welcomed Nikhil Kamdar as its appointed actuary, subject to regulatory approvals, the company said on Tuesday.
Based in Mumbai, Kamdar carries extensive experience in the general insurance industry, with a career spanning actuarial, pricing, analytics, risk, underwriting and product.
He has held multiple senior leadership positions, including serving as an appointed actuary at Raheja QBE General Insurance and Digit Insurance. Earlier in his career, Kamdar also held actuarial roles at Swiss Re, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and Mercer.
In a LinkedIn post, ProTec said Kamdar’s “broad experience will be instrumental in shaping our product proposition, strengthening our underwriting capabilities and building a robust foundation for sustainable and profitable growth.”
ProTec said the appointment comes at an important stage for the company as it prepares for market launch. The insurer has been assembling its leadership and operations team since securing its licence from the Indian regulator in July.
Most recently, it hired Vijay Anand as chief investment officer, followed by the appointment of Bhaskar Nerurkar as chief of its capability centre. Earlier in August, Subramanyam Brahmajosyula joined from SBI as head of underwriting and reinsurance.
ProTec is backed by the M Pallonji Group, promoted by Mehli Mistry and Pheroze Mistry, alongside investor Divya Sehgal and the Federal Bank.
