ProTec General Insurance has appointed industry veteran Dipankar Saikia as chief operating officer, the Indian insurer announced on LinkedIn.
Based in Mumbai, Saikia joins after more than nine years at Eicore Technologies, where he was most recently executive director. He brings more than 35 years of experience across general and health insurance, spanning operations, business leadership and technology, and previously worked at Bharti AXA General Insurance and Bajaj General Insurance.
“As we build a new-age insurance company, we’re excited to have his experience and perspective as part of the ProTec journey,” ProTec said.
The appointment follows a series of hires made by ProTec since receiving its licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) in July.
Earlier this week, the insurer appointed Nitin Singla as head of health claims, networks and fraud management. Other recent hires include Vijay Anand as chief investment officer, Bhaskar Nerurkar as chief of its capability centre, and Subramanyam Brahmajosyula as head of underwriting and reinsurance.
ProTec is backed by the M Pallonji Group, promoted by Mehli Mistry and Pheroze Mistry, as well as investor Divya Sehgal and Federal Bank.
