ProTec General Insurance has appointed Subramanyam Brahmajosyula as head of underwriting and reinsurance, the company has announced.
Brahmajosyula joins from SBI General Insurance, where he most recently served as chief technical officer. His career spans more than 35 years across underwriting, claims, reinsurance and product development, in both public and private sector companies in India and overseas.
He has previously held leadership roles at Oriental Insurance Company, AXA Insurance Singapore and Bharti AXA General Insurance.
At ProTec, Subramanyam will play a pivotal role in shaping our underwriting philosophy and building smarter, more disciplined and customer-centric risk solutions as we create a new-age insurer from the ground up,” the company said via LinkedIn.
The appointment follows the insurer’s certificate of registration from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, granted in July and the fourth insurer approval issued by the regulator in 2026.
ProTec is backed by the M Pallonji Group, promoted by Mehli Mistry and Pheroze Mistry, cousins of the Shapoorji Pallonji family. The venture is also backed by investor Divya Sehgal and Federal Bank, a shareholding structure set out when the proposal cleared the first stage of IRDAI’s approval process, with M Pallonji expected to hold a 51% controlling stake.
