UIB Asia appoints Nguyen Huy Trung, Penghua Lim to senior roles

Trung joins from Cambodia-Vietnam Insurance PLC; Lim moves from J B Boda & Co.

UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers has appointed Nguyen Huy Trung as senior executive director and head of analytics and actuarial, and Penghua Lim as director in its Treaty & Retro division, the company announced on Tuesday.

Trung brings more than two decades of experience across insurance, actuarial and financial services in ASEAN. He joins after more than 10 years at Cambodia-Vietnam Insurance PLC, where he most recently served as chief executive. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at BIDV Insurance and Baoviet Insurance.

According to the company, “Trung will lead UIB Asia’s Analytics & Actuarial function, supporting the continued development of our actuarial capabilities, analytical insights, and data-driven solutions across the Group.”

Lim joins UIB Asia after more than 11 years with J B Boda & Co, where he most recently served as assistant general manager. He has almost two decades of experience in the (re)insurance industry, with a focus on treaty portfolio management, business development, product innovation and client engagement.

His experience spans several Southeast Asian markets, as well as Pakistan. UIB said his background covers property, casualty, marine cargo, medical, takaful and specialty lines.

UIB Asia said Lim’s appointment “further strengthens” its Treaty & Retro capabilities as the broker expands its regional platform.
