Debra Burford has been promoted to the role of Global Head of Financial Lines, Cyber, and Credit Lines Claims at Zurich Commercial Insurance.
The appointment took effect on 1 Jan 2025, according to Tom Thornberry, Group Chief Claims Officer at Zurich, who made the announcement on LinkedIn.
Burford has been with Zurich for six years and had been serving as APAC Chief Underwriting Officer since July 2021.
In her new role, she joins the Global Large & Complex Claims team, with Thornberry adding that Burford will “play a crucial role in driving Claims excellence for Financial Lines globally, collaborating with Claims and Underwriting colleagues worldwide to ensure we continue to deliver the highest possible level of service to our customers.”
Before her time at Zurich, Burford spent seven years at AIG across London and Singapore, in a diverse range of roles, including Head of Liabilities for Singapore, APAC Commercial Lines Legal Counsel, and CUO for Financial Lines in London.
She was also previously a financial lines loss adjuster at London-based ASL and, prior to that, held a commercial litigation role at Australian law firm Fisher Jeffries, according to LinkedIn.
