Zurich Insurance has appointed Wayne Leow as head of commercial insurance for Malaysia, the company announced in a media release on Wednesday.
Leow joins Zurich from Chubb Malaysia, where he worked for over seven years, most recently as chief broking and large corporate officer. He brings more than 17 years of insurance industry experience, previously holding senior leadership roles at Chubb, Aon, and MSIG Insurance.
In his new role, Leow will lead Zurich’s commercial insurance function in Malaysia as the insurer looks to strengthen its position in the segment. He has a matrix reporting line to Junior Cho, CEO Malaysia and Liam Burrell, CEO Singapore and head of commercial insurance, Asia.
“Wayne’s deep market knowledge and proven ability to build high-performing teams and scale commercial relationships will be instrumental in strengthening our position in commercial insurance,” Cho said.
“His action-oriented approach coupled with a deep understanding of the market make him ideally suited for this role,” Burrell added.
Leow’s appointment adds to a series of Zurich leadership moves in Asia, including Amit Kalra being tapped to lead the group’s new Global Capability Centre in India and Marcus Seow joining Zurich Singapore as senior marine underwriter. The insurer has also named Digbijoy Shukla to head its APAC digital business, while Roopa Malhotra has taken on an executive role in Japan.
