Zurich has appointed Peter Yuan as Acting Chief Executive Officer for Zurich Life Insurance Hong Kong, the company announced in a statement on LinkedIn.
Yuan will take on the position effective 26 August 2024, pending regulatory approval, with current Life CEO Geoffrey Au set to depart the company on 24 October 2024.
Zurich acknowledged Au’s contributions to the business, commenting, “Under his stewardship, our life business has expanded its footprint and delivered strong financial performance. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
In its statement, Zurich also said it is in the process of identifying a permanent successor for the CEO role.
Yuan, who has been serving as APAC Chief Life Actuary and Head of Life Business Performance, originally joined Zurich in Sydney in 2008. In 2015, he moved to Malaysia where he served as Head of Actuarial Service Center for Asia Pacific, before moving to Hong Kong in 2017.
“Peter possesses extensive industry experience and a proven track record of driving operational excellence and profitable growth, making him well-equipped to guide the company through this transition period,” said Zurich.
