Aberdeen Investments has appointed Alan Koay and promoted Echo Yang as both senior solutions directors within its Strategic Insurance Group, the company announced in a press release on 4 December.
With extensive experience in insurance investment and product solutions, Koay moves after over six years with Etiqa Insurance Singapore, where he was head of investment. He brings broad financial services experience with senior positions across private banking, corporate finance and asset management at Axa Life Malaysia, CIMB, PwC and AIA.
Meanwhile, Yang, moves internally from her post as investment director of quantitative analytics on Aberdeen’s Asia-Pacific fixed income desk, where she led insurance-centric portfolio modelling across Asia-Pacific. She has deep expertise in portfolio construction and investment innovation across asset classes.
Both Koay and Yang will work closely with insurers and prospects to develop strategic partnerships and deliver outcomes aligned with their long-term objectives.
“Alan’s experience in leading the investment and Investment-Linked Product strategy at an Asian insurance group, and Echo’s deep understanding of asset-liability management and portfolio construction for insurance investors, give us exceptional local insights, allowing us to develop precisely tailored solutions across public and private markets,” Matthew Smith, Aberdeen’s global head of Strategic Insurance Group, said.
Koay and Yang’s appointments come after Aberdeen announced in October 2025 the creation of the Strategic Insurance Group, a dedicated team aimed at strengthening its global insurance expertise and fostering deeper partnerships with insurers.
