Munich Re has appointed Chotima Puasiri as chief representative for its Thailand office effective 1 March 2026, the global reinsurer announced in a media release on Friday.
She will succeed the retiring Luciën Heijstee, who has been the chief representative for Munich Re Thailand for the past seven years, and report to Michael Hauer, Munich Re’s managing director and head of non-life Southeast Asia.
“We sincerely thank Luciën Heijstee for his remarkable leadership in establishing and growing our Thailand Representative Office since 2019,” Hauer said. “His vision, dedication, and hard work have laid a strong foundation for the office’s success.”
“I am delighted that we have found a successor in Chotima Puasiri, who will represent Munich Re competently and ambitiously in this important growth market,” Hauer added. “Thanks to her vast expertise in the Thai Non-Life insurance market, Chotima Puasiri is an ideal fit for our Bangkok rep office.”
Chotima Puasiri has over 10 years of experience in the Thai non-life insurance and reinsurance sector, and joins the global reinsurer from ERGO Insurance Thailand, where she worked for two years as executive vice president, product management and executive vice president for underwriting strategy. Prior to ERGO, she held roles at Nam Seng Insurance.
Heijstee will work alongside Puasiri during a handover period before his retirement, according to Munich Re.
Puasiri‘s appointment comes after Munich Re named Eric Zhao as CEO of its Beijing branch in December 2025, another key leadership appointment by the reinsurer in Asia.
