Howden Japan has appointed Tim Hewitt as head of Japan international solutions and strategy, effective February 2026, the company announced on LinkedIn on 3 February.

Hewitt has been with Howden Japan since 2025, most recently serving as its head of M&A. Before joining the company, he served as representative director and Japan country manager at BMS Group.  His background also includes cross-border M&A legal work in Tokyo at Morrison & Foerster LLP, and later in-house M&A support on acquisitions and divestitures at Marelli.

Hewitt brings extensive experience to his new role, where he will focus on expanding the broker’s M&A solutions platform in Japan. He will also be working with local clients on outbound transactions and supporting overseas investors entering Japan with transactional risk cover.

Kentaro Tada, CEO of Howden Group Japan, said: “We are delighted to see Tim step into this new leadership role. He has played a central role in shaping our M&A solutions in Japan and has contributed greatly to connecting Japanese clients with overseas markets. His appointment will further strengthen our international strategy, including the continued expansion of our M&A offering.”

The appointment follows a string of M&A hires at Howden Asia in the past month, including Cathryn Neo as head of contingent and litigation risks, Jamie Wan and Adrian Chai as senior directors, and Janice Jiang as an associate for Asia. The company also named Jianhua Chen as a director and Rosy Wang as an associate director in Howden China’s M&A team.
