FWD Group on Monday announced it will appoint David Junius as managing director and group chief financial officer, Alex Wong as group chief actuary, and Knattapisit Krutkrongchai as chief executive officer for Thailand, subject to regulatory approvals.
Junius is joining from Pearl Health, where he worked for over a year as chief financial officer. He will assume FWD’s group CFO role on 1 July 2026, following an initial period as deputy group CFO over the next few months. He succeeds Sid Sankaran, who is relocating to the US but will stay on as an adviser overseeing general account investment strategy and institutional investor relations.
Junius brings nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance and finance industries, including senior leadership experience for firms such as AIG, Third Point Re, SiriusPoint, and Cowbell.
Wong moves to FWD after over four years with HSBC Life, most recently serving as group chief actuary. He replaces Michael van Vuuren, who recently moved to another company.
He brings over 20 years of international life insurance experience and has worked in actuarial roles at HSBC, Hang Seng Insurance, Nan Shan Life Insurance and AIA. He also holds roles with the International Actuarial Association, the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and the Society of Actuaries Asia Employer Council.
Krutkrongchai is set to step into his new role at FWD Thailand on 11 May, joining from Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance, where he served as chief executive officer for over a year. He is set to succeed David Korunić, who will retire on 30 June 2026 after more than 35 years in the industry and will continue to advise FWD Group.
Krutkrongchai has close to 30 years of experience, including more than a decade in Thailand and 17 years in Hong Kong. Apart from Krungthai-AXA Life, he also held senior roles with firms such as AIA, AIG Consumer Finance Group Asia and GE Capital.

Earlier this year, the insurer also officially opened its new headquarters, FWD Tower, in Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay, on 21 January.
