HDI Global has appointed James Zhan to its risk engineering team in Hong Kong, the company announced on Friday.
Zhan joins HDI as a senior risk engineer, bringing experience in risk assessment and loss prevention, with expertise in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
He brings project management experience in hazard study, process safety management, production and process control, and also specialises in renewable energy, including PV solar and Li-ion batteries industries.
His appointment comes after HDI Global’s Asia-Pacific operations delivered a strong performance in 2025, with its Singapore and Australia branches contributing to the insurer’s group-wide results.
Earlier this year, the company opened a representative office in Seoul, Korea, as part of its strategy to grow its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
The business currently operates 30 owned entities worldwide and provides services in more than 175 countries, with the insurer planning to step up its push into speciality lines and expand internationally, including in Southeast Asia.
