Market Lane Insurance Group has appointed Hetti Blackburn as senior casualty claims executive, the Australian group said in a LinkedIn post.

Blackburn joins the Sydney-based underwriting agency from Marsh, where she spent three and a half years as claims team leader for Risksmart Claims until August.

She brings experience across insurance, liability claims, litigation, risk management and commercial law, and in managing complex casualty matters. Before Marsh, Blackburn was legal counsel at Plexus. She also spent three and a half years as legal counsel at McDonald’s.

“Her technical knowledge, claims experience and leadership will be a fantastic addition to our growing claims team as we continue to build a genuinely market-leading claims capability,” Market Lane said.

The hire follows Market Lane’s promotion of Shane Golding to group head of casualty in March and its appointment of Bobby Major to head ML Specialty in June. The group signed a multi-year nat cat modelling deal with BirdsEyeView in July.
