Marsh Re has appointed Laurent Rousseau head of international, giving him charge of its Asia, Pacific, Latin America and Caribbean regions in addition to Europe and IMEA, the reinsurance broker announced on Thursday (3 September 2026).

Rousseau joined the business in June 2023, when it still traded as Guy Carpenter, as chief executive for Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa and global head of capital and advisory.

He will continue to lead Capital and Advisory globally in the new role, and will work with Marsh Re’s regional leaders “to deliver the firm’s capabilities to clients in this complex risk environment”, the reinsurance broker said.

Before joining the business, Rousseau spent almost 13 years at SCOR, serving as group chief executive from June 2021 to January 2023 and as chief executive of specialty insurance from 2018. He has more than 25 years of experience in reinsurance, capital advisory and investment banking.

Earlier today, Marsh Re also named Andrew Hare as its next Japan chief executive, effective 1 January 2027. Both appointments follow Guy Carpenter’s rebranding as Marsh Re on 1 September, retiring a name used in reinsurance broking for more than a century.
